JEFF'S EXCELLENT GALENA ADVENTURE, JUNE 29, 2006
I finished the outhouse this morning, landscaping and cleaning up rocks, boards, and tools.
I went into Rapid City to buy some supplies, then came back and rode the bike back to road "5H". I first went to the very first left road, but it went downhill to steep and rocky for me, so I went down the regular 5H to the creek bed where a few roads meet. This time I went left toward Galena. One road followed the stream bed, but this seemed like a really crappy ATV road to me, so I went up the hill. It eventually wound up at road 567, which is the east loop road right off Lost Gulch. So I wound up on Lost Gulch road north of the cabins, and decided to come home that way. Along the way I went up side roads 1H (goes to Pillar Peak) and 1D (dead ends). On 1D I saw a couple of woodpeckers and didn't get any good pics.
Along here you can see the plants are filling in where the fire was. Sometimes the colors are just great.
