JEFF'S EXCELLENT GALENA ADVENTURE, JUNE 26-27, 2006

Monday I went to Rapid City airport to get Juha, who got bumped from his original Sunday night flight. I turned off the interstate to Pleasant Valley Road, which I thought went to the mall via a back road. But no. It kept going farther and farther east with no end in sight. After a bit I could see the Dinosaur Hill towers straight south of me, but quite a ways away. Finally, the road went south, and wound up as Highway 79 south. This ran into the road to the airport, and I got there about 10 minutes before Juha's early arrival.

We went to the Midnight Star and had buffalo ribeye steaks, which were really good. Then we gambled using the $2 free coupons and our own $10, almost exclusively doing the 25 cent slot machines. It took an hour before we ran out of our $5 each that we had invested. After about 10 minutes, a waitress offered us free drinks! So we were high rollers in Deadwood with $5 each investment! We then went up to Jeraldine's and got some Galena sweatshirts that she had found for us to buy.

Today, Tuesday, Juha packed, then we went to Brownsville for the obligatory buffalo burgers. Then we went over Juha's trip options, and off he went. I haven't heard from him yet where he got to.

I went into Sturgis and did laundry. When I came back I took a photo of the field near Sigestad Road. It looks like snow, but it's actually daisies! It seems that some flower or other has been blooming here since I got here. I guess they're taking turns. I kept my camera on and handy and got a good shot of a deer too.
