JEFF'S EXCELLENT GALENA ADVENTURE, JULY 3, 2006

Today I went to Sturgis and did laundry. There were quite a few bikes around now already.I tried out Bob's Family Restaurant downtown, which was ok.

I then went up to Geraldine's to go over the photos she's going to put around town for the march or whatever it is Saturday. I was just honing up on my knowledge of Galena in case somebody asks me something.

I then walked up Butcher Gulch despite it being kinda drizzly. It was nice and never rained much. I made a panorama of the Hoodoo (I think?) walls.

I then went up to the other mine and snooped around. On the way down, I saw some old tin on the side of the hill, so I walked around through there, and somebody had busted a few old-looking bottles. I looked around to see if there was a dump there but couldn't find anything more. This is where I took this photo.

It looks like a composite photo, but it isn't.

A groundhog was around the walls on the way down. He just stood there frozen for quite a while until I moved toward him.

I went into Deadwood and quickly turned 75 cents into about $15! I went back to the machine at the Midnight Star that seemed to be best, but a lady was already on it, and she was scoring big on it too. So I came back later and got on it and did pretty good. Then I sat outside talking to a lady who was from Seattle. Her mom and aunt were spending like crazy on the huge slot machine in the window. They'd win a couple hundred once in a while, so I don't know if they came out even or what. I went back to my favorite machine, but it wasn't putting out anymore, so I quit. I wound up about $2 ahead. It was not too busy in town, I'd say.
